Job Description

Position Title:             Development Assistant
 
Reports to:                 Director of Development and External Affairs
 
Hours:  30 hours weekly; during event and annual appeal times up to 35 hours a week
 
Position Overview:  Supports the Development Office with fundraising activities by maintaining the donor database and processing gifts.
 
Skills Desired:  Excellent clerical and computer skills.  Highly organized and able to work with little to no supervision.  Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  Able to perform simple math.  Willing to be a team player.  Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and DonorPerfect a plus.  Good sense of humor.
 
Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the Director of Development and External Affairs including assisting with fundraising efforts, such as mass mailings and events
  • Receives and records revenues; data entry of contributions; verifies and acknowledges donations; reconciles deposits; corrects previous gift entries as appropriate
  • Responsible for all day-to-day operations for the acknowledgement, recording, filing and reporting of all contributions; including pledges and pledge payments
  • Maintains donor database records
  • Produces monthly, calendar year end and fiscal year end reports
  • Works with Director of Development and External Affairs and outside vendors to ensure all annual appeals are sent in a timely manner
  • Works with Director of Development and External Affairs to maintain attendee list for Boots and Bloom event and prepare materials for and staff the check-in/check-out table the night of Boots and Blooms
  • Assists with audit preparation
  • Adhere to the Beverly Bootstraps Security Plan and Procedures
  • Must comply with all policies and procedures as outlined in the Beverly Bootstraps Employee Handbook
  • Should proactively seek to understand and support the mission of Beverly Bootstraps and the “whole” department/agency function and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Successful CORI and background check.
Education:  Graduation from two-year college program or more.
Experience:   At least two years of related work experience.
OR:      An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid MA driver’s license with good to excellent driving record.
 
Primary Physical Requirements:
Long periods of computer use or telephone calls may be necessary. Having an ability to hear, talk, walk, sit, bend, reach, grasp and lift are requirements for this position.  Manual use of a computer, calculator, telephone, copier and facsimile machines is necessary.  Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds is required for this position.
