We invite you to take part in the Commonwealth's first day recognizing nonprofits!

This year, the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN) is inaugurating a tradition that will be a part of the state’s history for a long time to come.  The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network is hosting the first Nonprofit Excellence Awards on Nonprofit Awareness Day. On June 8, Massachusetts will be the first state in the nation to officially celebrate a Nonprofit Awareness Day to honor of the work of nonprofit organizations.  This day was recognized and signed into law by Governor Patrick last year.  On this day the MNN will host an event that will celebrate the work of nonprofits, raise public consciousness of their contributions and celebrate the winners of these awards.

The Governor, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Attorney General will be in attendance.  This award tradition will be a part of the state’s history for a long time to come. Each year, Nonprofit Awareness Day is celebrated on the second Monday in June. We have received over 110 applications for our awards, judged by a panel of academic practitioners.

Once selected, elected officials are invited to honor their respective awardees on Awareness Day. The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network will also work to ensure that these awards are recognized in the local community.

Respective legislators from throughout Massachusetts are invited to attend. This provides an excellent opportunity to network and demonstrate your support for the nonprofit sector. Nonprofit Awareness Day is a lunch reception. Pre-registration is required of all attendees.

Statewide, the impact of non-profits on our economy is staggering: Non-profits employ almost 14 percent of the state’s workforce – 450,000 jobs, which is more than all local, state, and federal jobs combined.  Last year, the nonprofit sector pumped $86 billion into local Massachusetts economies through salaries and goods and services. In honor of the work of nonprofits throughout the Commonwealth, Massachusetts Nonprofit Network will be celebrating the 1st annual Nonprofit Awareness Day.

Sponsoring Nonprofit Awareness Day will provide a direct opportunity for businesses to honor those who excel above and beyond the already impressive contributions of the sector as a whole.
