If a proposal to repeal the Massachusetts income tax succeeds, the likely slashing of annual state revenues, from $27 billion to $14 billion, “would be disastrous beyond compare,” especially for nonprofits, State Sen. Dianne Wilkerson (D-Second Suffolk) told more than 100 nonprofit leaders this morning.
“We will not be able to ignore a mandate to drop the income tax,” according to Wilkerson, speaking in Boston to a regional meeting convened by Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, the state’s nonprofit trade association.
She added, “You better learn how your nonprofit can engage [on this issue] without violating any rules.”
